After 18 months of fundraising and raising a huge £45,000 towards the family's £65,000 target, on the 11th July local lad Henry had his long awaited SDR surgery.

As the family told us: " What a journey it has been. Everything went smoothly and he has now finished his two weeks outpatient physiotherapy at The Portland London. Now the next part of the journey begins with intensive therapy for the next three years.

With the intensive therapy being even more important than the operation we still need to continue our fundraising to give Henry the best chance possible of improving his independence and abilities to be mobile."

So if you have any fundraising ideas or fancy setting yourself a challenge for next year please get in touch via Helping Henry on Facebook. They also still have collection pots available for businesses to display as well.

The family told Nub News: " We also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey so far Henry wouldn't have this opportunity without everyone's generosity and support to get us this far."
