Central police have released a statement about the incident in Radstock today (May 13) which closed off roads around the police station.

"As a precaution, people were evacuated from Radstock Police Station this afternoon (Thursday 13 May).

"A member of the public seeking to dispose of a suspected World War Two device brought it into the building at about 12.15pm.

"The explosive ordnance disposal team was called who inspected it and confirmed it presented no danger before taking it away.

"The police station was reopened at about 2.20pm.

"We'd ask anyone who discovers a potentially suspicious item to call the police on 999."
