A new breakfast club is proving to be a big hit with school children in the village of Wellow.
St Julian's Church School introduced the new venture just last week and has already seen a big uptake in those attending.
School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: "It's now widely recognised that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating a good, wholesome breakfast – first thing in the morning - improves our energy levels, improves metabolism, provides many beneficial nutrients, and boosts our fibre and calcium intake.
" For young children, a whole day at school can be tiring, so our new breakfast club helps to ensure that everyone is awake, alert and focused throughout the day! It's also a good opportunity for pupils to meet their friends and socialise before the official start of the day!"
The St Julian's Church School breakfast starts at 7.45am. It is affordable, fun and healthy with a range of cereal (and toast) to choose from.
"The club is proving popular too with parents who have an early start at work. Our wrap-around care provision means parents can drop their children at school an hour earlier than normal and get a head start for the working day", added Ruth.
