Radstock Methodist Church has been broken into with police appealing for anyone who might have seen anything of the break in when thieves also vandalised the organ.

The church on Fortescue Road was broken into sometime between 11.30am on 29 October and 8.30am on October 31.

The thieves got away with several pieces of electrical equipment and now church officials are left unsure of how they will be able to organise any virtual carol services they were hoping for Christmas.

Those who broke in also vandalised the organ which the congregration say is " Totally senseless."

Immediately after the break in the church was forced to cancel those services it was at the time still allowed to host, partly because of the computer system and screens which were taken, but also because the covid security system was breached.

The church secretary Cllr Eleanor Jackson said: " It is particularly upsetting because the following Sunday we were in lockdown, which is very hard, and very annoying given how strict the Methodist Church covid-19 measures are. So many of our congregation are not able to zoom or use IT resources, and are very lonely. "

Police have told Nub News that CCTV and house-to-house enquiries have been carried out but anyone with information is asked to call 101 and give ref 5220246379,
