Churches in Peasedown St John, Wellow and Shoscombe are preparing for Harvest this Sunday, due to be celebrated at a number of morning services.

Anglican churches in all three parishes, which make up the St J's Group, will be observing the Christian festival whilst at the same time following the government's coronavirus guidelines.

Leader of all three parishes, Revd Matthew Street, said; "Harvest is that time of the year to thank God for our food, and all the gifts the land around us provides from clothing to furniture.

" Whether you are two years old, or 102 years old, Harvest is a time to be thankful. We do recognise though that not everyone will be able to join in the festivities this year, due to the restrictions on the number of people that can gather together."

Harvest is on Sunday 27th September, with the following events taking place:

  1. 00 am – Harvest Morning Praise, St Julian's Church, Wellow
  2. 30 am – Harvest Morning Praise - St John's Church, Peasedown St John – A seat must be booked in advance
  3. 15 am – Harvest Morning Praise – St James, Foxcote (Shoscombe)

The theme for this year's Harvest festivals is 'A man reaps what he sows'.

Matthew added: "This powerful message from the Bible reminds us that the more we put into the something, the more we get out of it. If we invest our time, energy and effort into creating a positive difference, then something good will come of it. This Harvest time, let us be thankful for the things we still have."
