A celebratory event that was due to be held in Peasedown St John on Saturday 27th November has been postponed due to the rising number of Covid infections in the area.

The event was to be held at The Hive Community Centre with Police Commissioner Mark Shelford and local MP Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Chairman of the Peasedown Community Trust (the organisers of the event) Gavin Heathcote, said: "This wasn't an easy decision to make. After seeing the increase in Covid cases for our area, particularly in Peasedown St John, the Trustees have reluctantly come to this decision.

"We're hoping to reschedule the event for some time in the New Year. The official opening of Peasedown's new Community Orchard will also now take place next year." Despite the event being postponed, the Community Trust will still be announcing the winner of the Peasedown St John Community Civic Award next weekend online and continuing with its free tree giveaway to local homes.
