Work was progressing at pace today (September 24) on the green in Radstock, with trees being felled and foundations marked out for the new medical centre.

Meantime in planning news this week in and around Radstock.

Along the Greenway, on land between Wellow Brook and Northmead Road (under reference 20/03322/CLPU) an application has been put in for a variety of works including improvements to path surfaces, removal, replacement and realignment of fences and the removal of a kissing gate. The application includes putting in removable bollards, erection of a totem sign 2.8m high at the west entrance, erection of information boards within the site and vegetation management works.

In Westfield at 4 Swallow Close they have put in an application to build a single storey rear extension under reference 20/03410/FUL.

In Midsomer Norton the Children's Centre on the High Street has requested that they be allowed to cut three metres off their lime tree which is growing towards the nursery building. Reference 20/03448/TCA.

And in Clandown an application has been made to build a first floor extension at Mark House on Smallcombe Road. (20/03176/FUL)

Planning decisions made this week at B&NES include:

An application by Whitehaven Residential Home on the Fosseway, in Westfield, to convert the loft to provide bedrooms and shower rooms has been withdrawn.

An application to build a new studio flat at 1 The Island, Midsomer Norton has also been withdrawn.

Planning has been agreed for a new three bedroomed home at The Bungalow, Providence Place in Midsomer Norton.

Also permitted: a two storey side extension at 18 Welton Grove in Welton.

There is a split decision - so planners want further checks - on the application to cut down an ash tree with a suspected infection from ash dieback disease - at 39 Long Barnaby in Welton.

Planners have no objection to cutting down three leylandii trees at Robark, on Fosse Way in Clandown,
