Radstock Co-operative Society have marked the end of a year-long charity partnership with cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) with a donation of £750.

Jeremy Fricker, Vice-President of Radstock Co-operative Society, presented the cheque to Communications Officer Lucy McMahon in October. Lucy said:

"Our year with Radstock Co-operative Society has been fantastic and we're so grateful for their support and in particular for their very generous donations of £1,000 in August 2019 and £750 last month. It's been great to have the opportunity to hold bucket collections in store and receive donations of cake and refreshments for our festive events in 2019. And a big thank you to all the shoppers who have dropped change in our in-store collection tins throughout the year."

"For obvious reasons our community fundraising has been badly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and with no definite end in sight we don't know when we'll be able to resume many of our usual events and activities. Meanwhile demand for the services we provide remains high and we're determined to meet that need. The final donation from Radstock Co-operative represents much-needed income but also a boost for our morale and a true demonstration of how a business can 'pay it forward' in a community."

A spokesperson for Radstock Co-op said, "we are delighted to have been able to support the 'We Hear You' charity throughout the year as voted on by our members at last year's AGM. This has been an extremely difficult for all of us, but the charitable sector has been hit hard restricting many fund-raising activities. We are impressed by the vital services provided by 'We Hear You' to those affected by cancer and life-threatening conditions."
