Local solicitors Thatcher + Hallam LLP have joined up with Dogs Friends, announcing that the Somerset-based charity has been nominated as the firm's Charity of The Year for 2020-2021.

Laura Ablett is one of the partners at the law firm.

'As a firm we have always worked extremely closely with the community that we work alongside,' explains Laura. 'This has also applied to the idea of working with local charities. Over the years we have worked closely with several and indeed we still do. However, as part of our 250 year birthday celebrations we asked our own staff which charity they wanted to support and after a ballot, Dogs Friends were chosen as our Charity of The Year for the next year up to 31st August 2021.'

Dogs Friends has been a charity in existence since 2005, based in Somerset and dedicated to helping both dogs and dog owners in need. One of the main functions of the charities is to help re-home dogs, not only in Somerset but in and around Bath and Bristol.

'We are absolutely delighted to be working alongside Dogs Friends for the next year,' adds Laura. 'Everyone here at Thatcher + Hallam is looking forward to how we can help the charity during the next 12 months. We already have some great projects that we are working on, one of which we shall be announcing details of in the next week or so.'

Rosemary Peacock is a Trustee and the Chairwoman of Dogs Friends. She is equally delighted to be teaming up with a local firm during the next 12 months.

'It was a wonderful surprise to learn that we had been chosen as Thatcher + Hallam's Charity of the Year. It has been a hard year for all charities, ourselves included and the work we do in rescuing and rehoming dogs is relentless. Support from local people and businesses means such a lot to everyone here at Dogs Friends, and enables us to carry on doing the work which we love. A great big thank you to all the staff at Thatcher + Hallam, we are very excited to be working with them,' says Rosemary.
