Pupils at Shoscombe Church School and St Julian's School in Wellow were treated to Christmas lunch, gifts, and a visit from Santa.
Headteacher at both schools, Ruth Noall, said: "This has been a school term like no other! Despite the challenges of ensuring we follow and implement coronavirus guidelines to keep everyone safe, our staff have worked exceptionally hard to make sure pupils have the best possible learning experience. To thank pupils for their hard work this term we held some very special Christmas parties in both schools." Children at Shoscombe School held a Christingle event and raised £270 for the Children's Society. The Friends of Shoscombe School Association sent Christmas craft boxes to school and provided funding for a virtual pantomime to take place. Christmas lunch was jolly and parents organised a Santa Shop so children could buy presents for family members. At St Julian's School, Wellow, children were treated to a visit from Santa who brought gifts and party treats for class parties. They also enjoyed Christmas lunch and a virtual pantomime. Activities were funded by the school PTA. "We wanted to make sure we celebrated Christmas in style," added Ruth, "our tinsel-laden classrooms and yuletide carols gave the pupils a joyful end to the year."
