They opened up today July 13 - but BLUSH nails and beauty in the centre of Radstock is already fully booked for the next two weeks.

Owner Rachel Sweeney said they booked up all their available appointments in just fifteen minutes.

The salon, which she started just a year ago after working in Fortescue Road for many years, is allowing additional time between appointments to allow total sanitising between nail treatments.

Rachel told Nub News: " So far it has gone very well, all our lovely customers are following and understanding the guidelines. We have all the safety measures in place."

All the therapists are hoping that, following the news that nail and other non facial treatments could start today, other treatments can also shortly begin again.

Currently treatments such as eyebrow shaping and waxing are still not allowed.

Beauty salons, nail bars, tattoo and massage studios, physical therapy businesses and spas across England were allowed to re-open today under new government plans, announced on July 9.

Under the guidelines salons must:

- use screens or barriers to separate clients from each other, and to separate practitioners from clients, such as in nail salons

- operate an appointment-only booking system to minimise the number of people on the premises at any one time

- increase the frequency of hand washing and surface cleaning, as well as regularly cleaning equipment or using disposable equipment where possible

- avoid skin to skin contact and wearing gloves where it is not crucial to the service, such as in nail bars and tanning salons

- maintain sufficient spacing between customer chairs

- not allow food or drink, other than water, to be consumed in the salon by customers

- ensure a limited and fixed number of workers work together, if they have to be in close proximity to do their jobs.

The treatments not yet allowed are : face waxing, eyebrow threading, eyelash treatments, make-up applications and facials.
