The special tribute ride for a local motorcyclist who lost his life in a crash is now leaving from a different venue than was previously reported.

Sixty one year old Ritchie Gilling sadly died on the B3134 in Blagdon, on the evening of August 22 while out on a ride with friends.

Now those friends, and many more from the motorcycling community, are planning to ride to his funeral on Friday September 22 in tribute, leaving from the Globe Country Pub car park BA2 9BB at 2.45 pm for the funeral at Haycombe Crematorium.

Ritchie's friends describe him as being all-round kind and reliable and always with a smile. The motorcyclist from Peasedown St John was described always happy to be dancing and a " happy soul."

They added ''Ritch never really let anything get to him, he just got on with it. The world is a darker place now Ritchie isn't here.''

Mourners are being asked, if they want, to wear bright clothing and a trilby to honour his memory.
