The local councillor fighting to re-open the local recycling site has recorded another big fly tipping incident and repeated his call to get the recycling site re-opened.

Cllr Grant Johson took the photo last night (July 7) on his way back to Peasedown.

Meantime a local Westfield Councillor says she has been "inundated" with calls from residents demanding the local recycling centre is re-opened.

Cllr Pat Williams, who is responsible for environmental issues, says the phone has been ringing pretty much constantly for the past ten days.

The councillor says that many of the callers have threatened to withhold their community charge for next year unless the Welton site is opened.

She told Nub News: " During the past ten days or so I have been inundated with phone calls from residents. I have used this centre for many years and I am sure safety measures could be put into place.

"Residents are saying if this facility doesn't soon reopen they are considering withholding part of their Community Charge for next year and even worse will consider fly tipping, which would be horrendous."
