A redevelopment opportunity in the shape of a former school and its grounds in Radstock is being marketed by global real estate advisor Colliers International.

The former infants' school closed in 2005 and the 0.89 acre site is being offered on a subject to planning basis on behalf of Bath and North East Somerset Council.

Alfie Passingham, senior surveyor in the National Offices team at Colliers International, said: "The site was the subject of a previous planning application for 14 homes but this was refused due to issues with the proposed design and layout, as opposed to the principle of it being developed.

"The location is an established residential area and therefore the site is considered to have very realistic potential for residential development with the right scheme in place."

A market town for centuries, Radstock became a mining centre after the discovery of coal there in 1763. The town had a population of more than 5,500 in the 2011 census.

The school site is located on Bath Old Road within the Radstock Conservation Area and includes the former infants' school grounds along with a range of derelict classrooms.
