The council is warning of changes being made to the biggest and most central of Bath car parks.

Temporary changes are being made to both vehicle and pedestrian access to Charlotte Street Car Park in Bath next month, due to electricity works by Western Power.

From Tuesday 13 October – Thursday 23 October, vehicle access via Charlotte Street will be entrance only, vehicles will be able to exit via Marlborough Buildings. The footpath leading out of the city centre will be closed, a barriered walkway will be put in place during this time. The footpath toward the city centre will remain unaffected.

Councillor Joanna Wright, cabinet member for Transport Services, said: "These temporary changes are needed to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians while Western Power carries out essential work. Additional signs will be put up re-directing people and vehicles to the temporary new routes."

Western Power will also be writing to residents and businesses in Charlotte Street advising them that road access, to the rear of their properties via the car park, will be restricted for one day during the works.

The car park is one of the few open Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day with no maximum stay. It has 1,056 spaces including 24 disabled spaces.
