The lavender fields at Faulkland near Radstock were the backdrop to the national weather forecast today (July 22).

Good Morning Britain selected the site for their live broadcast of the weather outlook.

Somerset Lavender is a well-known destination locally but this may also perhaps boost its national appeal.

The site has re-opened after coronavirus lockdown and is open Wednesday-Sunday 10am-5pm.

The fields are open by donation, and the owners stress they need that support to keep running, while also selling plants and lavender items from their Farm Shop.

On social media they wrote: " Thank you for your continued support during these difficult times, the safety of our customers and staff is our highest priority. We have put various measures in place at the farm to keep everyone as safe a possible, please take time to read and follow the instructions at the farm.

Our café is now open with a limited takeaway service, the good news is that our homemade cake is back! Our customer toilets are now open. "

But seeing the fields on the national broadcast is a rare treat.

They tell customers: " NO professional photography or photoshoots will be allowed this year. This is to ensure that everyone can move around safely and not have to pick their way around other people in the field. Anyone deemed to be running a shoot will be asked to leave. "
