Local planning news this week in and around Norton Radstock

In planning news locally.

Applications put in to B&NES this week, and therefore open for comment, include:

Norton Hill School has put in an application to build a small foyer extension to the existing school buildings. The school, on Charlton Road, in Midsomer Norton, has put in application 20/02844/FUL.

Tesco superstore at Old Mills has put in an application to remove two dead trees in the far corner of the car park near the recycling area. That application is 20/03015/TPO.

Unit 3, at the Wellsway Works, Wells Road, in Westfield, (application 20/02814/FUL) has reapplied for business change of use from office (use class B1) to become an MOT test centre (use class B2).

An application has been put into B&NES planners to divide 4 Pillsbridge Cottages, in Old Mills back into two separate houses. That is application is 20/02987/FUL.

In Midsomer Norton the owners of 22 Millfield have applied to build a single storey side extension and front porch. That is application 20/02972/FUL.

The Bungalow, Southfield, Radstock, Bath And North East Somerset, BA3 3QB (under reference 20/03007/FUL) has applied to build a rear extension, a new garage and a new access to their home from the road.

Planning decisions made by B&NES this week include:

The change of use for the old Price Jewellers, at 6 Chesterfield House, on the High Street into a mother and baby centre (from Use Class A1 to Use Class D1 ) has been permitted. The site will now be used to hold baby massage, baby yoga, messy play, sensory classes and toddler yoga teaching classes. The owner already runs the business in another part of Midsomer Norton, supporting children with

a variety of needs and disabilities and also runs 'free' PANDAS sessions for parents struggling with postnatal depression.

In the application the owner said: "My classes bring lots of young families into town who may not have visited otherwise and and most groups of parents attend my classes and then meet for coffee in local establishments."

An application to build a steel barn on the land East of Providence Bungalow, on the Frome Road, in Radstock has been refused.

A loft conversation at 109 Nelson Ward Drive, in Radstock has been ruled lawful.
