In planning news in and around Radstock this week.

The application to cut down an Ash tree at The Hollies, on the High Street, Midsomer Norton, has been approved.

A resubmission of plans to create a studio flat with a separate entrance way at 1 The Island, Midsomer Norton, at postcode BA3 2HQ (20/03544/FUL) has been approved.

An application to cut back the Beech hedge and prune back some Willows at Tesco's on Old Mills has been approved.

An application for prior approval for an extension at the holiday let at Paglinch Farm, in Shoscombe has been withdrawn.

An application to build a single storey conservatory at 56 Ashgrove, in Peasedown has been approved.

In Timsbury an application to build a double storey extension and garage port at 3 Lansdown Crescent has been approved.

In Temple Cloud, under planning reference 20/03604/OUT, an application to build a pair of semi detached homes at land to the West of Number 1, The Square, has been refused.

In planning applications to B&NES :

Over in Peasedown, at 28 Church Road, BA2 8AA (under planning reference 20/04576/FUL) they want to build a new four bedroomed house and double garage, following the demolition of an existing bungalow on the site.

An application has been put in for a certification that a current address is being used lawfully. Number ten Bath Road, Peasedown St. John, BA2 8DW ( 20/04554/CLEU) is currently used as seven separate residential units. They want an official Certificate of lawfulness for an Existing Use. Details under planning portal PP-09258743.

Also in Peasedown : Under reference 20/04642/FUL, at 10A Gordon Road, BA2 8EH, they have put in an application to build a two storey rear extension and to change the roof space into a loft bedroom. Planning Portal Reference: PP-09309019

And at 1A Eckweek Road, BA2 8EQ ( 20/04529/CLPU) they want to convert a storage area and workshop to be partially converted to living accommodation (Certificate of Lawfulness for a Proposed Development).

In High Littleton, under reference: 20/04645/FUL at 21 Southover Road, BS39 6HR, homeowners have applied to build a two storey rear extension and to put up a new party wall.

And an application has been put in to lift two planning conditions on the renovation and development works at Cameley Church of England Primary School in Temple Cloud, BS39 5BD. The school is building three new classrooms, a Learning Resource Centre, a SEN room and putting in toilets and cloakrooms, along with building a new main entrance. Details under 20/04538/COND.

And the on-going project plan to convert the former Chelwood House Hotel on Upper Bristol Road in Chelwood into six new flats, has been formally withdrawn. Details can be found under Reference 20/03585/OUT. Back in October the applicant was informed that converting a listed house into flats cannot be dealt with in outline planning. The proposal needs to be submitted in full, along with a listed building consent application which must include a thorough Heritage Statement. Planners have also noted : " There is plenty of potential to cause harm to the significance of the listed building

and they would be well advised to lodge a pre application enquiry."
