Jacob Rees Mogg MP writes in his latest column about health funding.
Recently, the Health Secretary sent me a letter about the financial support that the Government is giving to the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust to bolster the healthcare sector in Somerset via its Health Infrastructure Plan.To help drive this project forward, Matthew Hancock has announced that £4,300,000 will be given to the Trust on top of the 'seed funding' that has already been allocated to the scheme. This will facilitate vital preparatory works, which will be brought forward into the current financial year in order to accelerate the building of a new hospital in Somerset.
In his letter, Mr. Hancock outlined the discussions that our local Trust has been having with Whitehall officials, which he said have proved invaluable, providing the Department of Health with a wealth of ideas and strategies borne of experience managing and delivering healthcare on a local level. It is crucial that such bodies and individuals with this level of expertise are both consulted and involved in policymaking. I was delighted to read that the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust features as part of the Government's commitment to build forty new hospitals. The Government is spending a great deal of time and money on the nation's health infrastructure via its innovative, forward-thinking plan, which serves as the biggest hospital rebuilding programme in a generation. I know that Mr. Hancock is keen for a rapid turnaround, something that will undoubtedly benefit many residents of North East Somerset. Please do not hesitate to contact me: www.jacobreesmogg.com / [email protected]
