Will it be enough : As B&NES begin rubbish pick up on verges, Radstock In Bloom warn they may need a lot more bags

B&NES cleaning teams have, as reported on Nub News, begun their clean up along verges and hedges along the major roads in the district.

The council posted this photo showing the cleaning team who cleared 49 bags of rubbish from verges along the A368 Chelwood to Marksbury road.

One concern of the local groups who clear up around Radstock and Midsomer Norton, that the number of bags allocated to the clean up is not sufficient.

According to Radstock in Bloom, their organisation, together with Writhlington Action Group, Tyning Together and Clandown Community filled approximately 63 bags with rubbish last year.

That does not include solo and paired litterheros in Radstock and Midsomer Norton or those collected by Radstock Town Council.

And it was a clear up that was mainly done during lockdowns, when it might be expected less littering from vehicles on the roads.

The current B&NES clean up schedule is as follows:

B3116 Junction A39 to Keynsham - March 1 and 2

Woollard Lane and Charlton Road to Keynsham - March 3 and 4

A367 - March 8 and 9
