The director of public health has just put out a statement about the number of new coronavirus cases notified locally in the past two days.

Radstock Nub News wants to put out this statement from Dr Bruce Laurence, Director of Public Health, Bath & North East Somerset Council on coronavirus cases, in full.

It is:

The council and PHE (Public Health England) are working together in response to six new coronavirus cases notified to us in the past two days in the Midsomer Norton and Radstock area.

Cases in our area remain low but to keep it that way we must redouble our efforts to follow carefully all guidance on social distancing, washing our hands regularly, wearing face coverings and getting tested if we have symptoms. All of us have a role to play in protecting ourselves, our families and our communities.

If you have symptoms, self-isolate and get tested at nhs.uk or call 119. Remember also there's also a mobile testing facility at Paulton Rovers FC at the moment.

If you visit pubs, cafes and restaurants you must complete the test and trace form. For businesses, if you have a member of staff who tells you they have coronavirus symptoms, please ensure the person stays at home, self-isolates and books a test. If you have two or more possible cases and are concerned and want advice, please contact PHE's Health Protection Team on 0300 303 8162.

If a businesses has one or more confirmed cases, please inform [email protected] who can offer advice and support.

If a businesses has two or more confirmed cases, you need to report these to PHE's Health Protection Team on 0300 303 8162, who will work with you to assess the risks and advise you on actions to take. Help Test and Trace do its work by keeping a temporary record of your customers and visitors for 21 days.

We continue to monitor cases in our area very closely. We ask residents and businesses to stay updated by following the council on social media and signing up to our e-connect newsletter.
