Frome-based cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) are seeking a new member of their Board of Trustees, to take over from current treasurer Peter Lennard, former Finance Director of Dorothy House Hospice Care who is standing down in autumn 2020.

Melissa Hillier, Director of We Hear You, says:

"Many thanks to Peter Lennard for all his hard work and support - all of us at WHY wish him the very best for the future. WHY is a vibrant, dynamic and growing cancer charity working across Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset and Wiltshire. We provide emotional and psychological support to over 600 people each year who have been impacted by cancer or any other life threatening condition - including Covid-19. Over the last five years the charity has expanded its services, diversified its income and looked at creative ways to develop sustainable income. As our income grows our financial reporting methods need to adapt and change to enable us to provide timely information to the Board of Trustees and to our funders and supporters.

We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees who can offer us their expertise and passion, to help us develop our financial tools to ensure we can support our continued growth enabling WHY to reach everyone who needs our support. The Treasurer will work closely with the Chair and Director of WHY and maintain an overview of the charity's financial affairs. Although it's a vital role, the time commitment is very manageable - our Board of Trustees meet six times per year.

If you are interested in the role, please send a statement of no more than 250 words stating why you wish to be a trustee and what experience you can bring to [email protected]."

More information about the Treasurer role can be found here: the WHY site
