Whether it is because of the fresh spring light and health-giving breeze, I know not. All I do know is that Radstock is a pleasant place to be just now.

Many have responded to my appeal for residents to fill in the survey for the proposed railway reconnection. We have also benefitted from some expert input which makes our application to the DfT a real corker. The main objective at this stage is to gain recognition by officialdom. Once that is sealed, it will be relatively straightforward to convert the idea into actuality.

Alistair used to work in financial services for Lloyds

After decades working in a suit, it is getting his hands muddy and getting outdoors that keeps Alistair Scott happy, a philosophy he is now sharing to readers of Nub News, with a monthly gardening column. From a few sunflower seeds on a window sill, through to vast vegetable beds, with every plot in between, there are many levels of gardening and he wants everyone to enjoy them.

We caught up with him, in the rain, at his still-colourful plot at the Muriel Jones' allotment field on Birchill Lane in Frome, and asked him about sowing the seeds of gardening passion.
