Smokers across Bath and North East Somerset are being urged to make 2021 the year they quit.

Despite the stresses of Covid-19, 2020 saw the highest rates of successful quitting on record. It's estimated that during the first lockdown a million people across the country quit with hundreds of thousands remaining smoke-free.

Beaming smiles from these youngsters at Wellow

Pupils at Shoscombe Church School and St Julian's School in Wellow were treated to Christmas lunch, gifts, and a visit from Santa.

Headteacher at both schools, Ruth Noall, said: "This has been a school term like no other! Despite the challenges of ensuring we follow and implement coronavirus guidelines to keep everyone safe, our staff have worked exceptionally hard to make sure pupils have the best possible learning experience.

Councillors were told about plans to plant trees around Radstock. Over in Frome they have committed to planting thousands of trees under the Wild about Trees initiative

A short and if councillors can manage the budget, a sweet possibility of keeping the precept unchanged, was the outcome of the regular Radstock Town Council meeting.

Councillors discussed the on-going transfer of the Tom Huyton play park, which could be completed in 2021, and how this could be one of the places chosen to be part of what is going to be a national tree planting project.
