Nicola Joins Local Family Law Team

Local solicitors Thatcher+ Hallam have announced the expansion of their Family Law team with the appointment of Nicola Cable as a consultant with the firm. William Weller is the Managing Partner at Thatcher + Hallam and he is delighted at the appointment.

'Nicola is highly experienced and brilliant with clients and it is great to now have her as part of our Family Law team,' explains William. 'Even before the pandemic and the effects of lock-down , due to client demand we were always looking to expand our Family Law team. It was however important that we had the right candidate to join our already excellent team. We are fully confident that we have that candidate in Nicola.'

Kilmersdon incline

This photo - posted on the page of the North Somerset Railway & Radstock to Frome Railway Trust - shows the old incline up to Kilmersdon Colliery at Haydon. The rails at the bottom are still there.

The Kilmersdon incline and tramway hauled away coal which was being mined, at its peak, at a rate of 90 trams or 85 tonnes an hour. The track was constructed in 1877 and over the 160 yards travels a gradient of 1 in 4.

Residents and visitors to Kingsmead Square and York Street in Bath will have a traffic-free environment for longer from October.

Following positive feedback and discussions with traders, Bath & North East Somerset Council has agreed to further support social distancing and the evening economy by extending the vehicle access restrictions introduced in response to Covid-19 in both streets. From Monday 5 October access restrictions will apply from 10am until 10pm.

The pools as they are right now

Bath & North East Somerset Council has welcomed the news that the Trustees of Cleveland Pools have secured additional funding to assist with the impact Covid-19 has had on the project to restore the pools.

Work on the multi-million-pound restoration of England's oldest outdoor swimming pools has been delayed due to the pandemic, but the Cleveland Pools Trust has been granted £56,300 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund's Emergency Fund to cover additional costs incurred.
