The Somerset Farmers' Market is looking forward to their third open air market in next door Midsomer Norton since the lockdown started to ease earlier this summer. This Saturday also promises to be the biggest and busiest for a very long time.

Louise Hall is the Market organiser and she cannot wait for the event to open on Saturday morning.

Rise in pupil numbers sees new teachers appointed at popular village schools

New teachers for a new term! Harriet, Rosie and Isobel have joined the teaching staff teams at schools in Shoscombe and Wellow to meet the rising demand in pupil numbers.

An increase in pupil numbers at two primary schools in the area has led to the appointment of new, additional staff to meet the demand.

Shoscombe Church School and St Julian's School in Wellow, which both come under the headship of Mrs Ruth Noall, have seen a rapid rise in student numbers and applications for the new academic year.

Staggered arrivals and departures as Welton Primary prepares to re-open

The school has been open for pupils of keyworkers but is opening tomorrow (September 3) fully

Welton Primary School will be re-opening fully tomorrow (September 3) for all pupils, but splitting them into two groups for staggered start and finish times.

In an explanatory video on You Tube, the head explained how three year groups will be going into the school between 8.45 and 8.55 am, via three different entrances.

Local coronavirus mobile testing site in Paulton : Extended for a second time

The temporary Covid-19 mobile testing unit at Paulton Rovers Football Club will now be available until September 10.

Bath & North East Somerset Council's Public Health team has arranged the extension to continue to give people better access to local testing.
