A report outlining Bath & North East Somerset Council's finances, the financial impact of Covid-19 and the effect it will have on its spending plans is to go before the council's Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel on Monday 23 November.

The report is the first stage in the council's budget setting process for the coming financial year.

Businesses that have been required to close as part of the new coronavirus restrictions can now apply for a Government support grant from Bath & North East Somerset Council.

The Government's Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) Addendum, supports businesses which had been open as usual, providing services in person to customers from their business premises, but which were then required to close due to national lockdown restrictions imposed by government.

Get them early for Christmas - who doesn't love a sprout

Despite the second lockdown, outdoor markets have been given permission by the government to continue trading during November, selling food, drink and plants. If anyone missed the busy Somerset Farmers' Market at The Hollies in Midsomer Norton last Saturday, then the great news is that this coming Saturday, 14th November, the markets will be running in nearby Keynsham and Frome.

B&NES highways team at work

Thousands of potholes have been filled and approximately 173,000 square metres of roads resurfaced, equivalent to the area covered by 24 football pitches, across Bath and North East Somerset this year.

Despite the challenges posed by Covid-19, Bath & North East Somerset Council's Highways team have completed their road resurfacing programme on time and on budget.
