Dementia awareness services in Peasedown St John have received a boost, thanks to the Radstock & Midsomer Norton Lions Club.

The organisation, which has members living in Peasedown, wanted to show its support for the work being done to raise awareness of dementia across the community.

Commuters who use the M4 are being warned that the motorway is currently closed in both directions between junction 17 for Chippenham and 18 for Bath.

It follows two serious accidents that happened earlier this morning and is causing giant queues across the nearby roads as vehicles look to find alternative routes.

Bath's clean air zone is set to be the first to launch outside of London after delays and rethinks in other cities.

A start date is yet to be decided after it was pushed back from November but is likely to be as early as possible next year.

At the Radstock Town Council meeting councillors were told that they needed to " Get in the game" and make plans for the youth of the town.

Services for the youngsters in the town are going to change as the existing Children's Centre, which hosts Youth Connect sessions is long term going to be put up for sale.

Churches in Peasedown St John, Wellow and Shoscombe are preparing for Harvest this Sunday, due to be celebrated at a number of morning services.

Anglican churches in all three parishes, which make up the St J's Group, will be observing the Christian festival whilst at the same time following the government's coronavirus guidelines.

Bath Central Library will celebrate 30 years of opening on September 28 and a call is going out to residents to share their memories of the library through the decades as part of a virtual celebration.

The libraries team will be posting on social media throughout the 'birthday' with photos through the ages, memories of staff past and present and activities for all ages to enjoy including 30 years of books, a quiz and downloadable bookmarks.

At a busy Radstock Town Council meeting lots of local issues were discussed and a new councillor was elected.

Councillors heard that the Walnut Buildings up at Tynings are now empty, so there is now scope for the housing association Curo to make a decision on how the site could be developed.

Work has officially started on the new health centre in Radstock - as these photos show.
